Hispanic Women’s Network Announces Latinas In Progress Scholarship Recipients
The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) Fort Worth chapter recently announced its 2020 Latinas in Progress (LIP) scholarship recipients. Annually, students who successfully complete the LIP program are awarded scholarships from charitable members, donors and universities.
LIP collaborates with area universities and colleges to motivate graduating high school Latinas toward achieving their dreams of a college degree. It not only acclimates participants and their parents with the rigors of college but also equips them with vital tools to enrich their personal and professional lives.
The 2020 recipients include students from multiple Fort Worth ISD schools:

* Ruth Huerta is the recipient of the HWNT/TCU scholarship. This scholarship, part of the TCU Community Scholars program, is a full ride scholarship that includes room and board, books and an opportunity to study abroad.
With nearly 100 members, HWNT Fort Worth is the largest chapter in Texas. The organization is a multi-cultural mix of men and women of all ages. Through networking and professional development, members help one another reach goals, promote businesses, and offer support and resources to elevate the Hispanic community. Activities include the Latinas in Progress Education Program, Cafe con Leche socials, Stand Up! and much more.
