STAAR Test Information and Tips
State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing for students in the third- through eighth-grades and End-of-Course (EOC) exams at the high school level will take place from Monday, May 7 to Friday, May 18 across the state.
Parents can help their children prepare for performing well on state exams by:
- Making sure they get a good night’s rest
- Offering them a healthy and nutritious breakfast
- Making sure they dress comfortably, complying with Fort Worth ISD dress code
- Encourage that they think positively about the test and their abilities
- Remind them to review their work for mistakes
During testing week, visitors are prohibited on school campuses. Parents will be allowed to visit their child’s school but may not come to classrooms or the school cafeteria during the week of testing.
The following STAAR and EOC exams are scheduled May 7-18:
Monday, May 7-11
Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History EOC
Monday, April 14
Grades 3 and 4 mathematics
Grades 6 and 7 mathematics
Grades 5 and 8 mathematics retest
Tuesday, May 15
Grades 3 and 4 reading
Grades 6 and 7 reading
Grades 5 and 8 reading retest
Wednesday, May 16
Grades 5 and 8 science
Thursday, May 17
Grade 8 social studies
Friday, May 18
All makeup exams for STAAR assessments administered May 14-17
Parents are encouraged to view the District’s 2017-2018 Testing Calendar for all other scheduled exams the remainder of the school year and to check the weekly parent message.
