Apply for the 2018 International Leadership Academy
Sister Cities International is looking to connect Fort Worth high school students with students from across the globe through its 2018 International Leadership Academy, July 12-26.
Since 1989, the International Leadership Academy has connected Fort Worth youth with students from sister cities in China, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico and Swaziland.
For two weeks, approximately 100 students participate in activities on the Texas Christian University campus that include improving leadership communication and problem-solving skills; learning about and developing appreciation for various other cultures; and gaining knowledge about citizen diplomacy, according to the Sister Cities International website. This year’s academy theme is “Meet the World in Fort Worth.”
Applications are currently being accepted for participation in this year’s program.
Eligible applicants must currently be in the ninth through 12th grades, submit an application and essay, and attend a scheduled personal interview. Up to 20 Fort Worth student delegates will be selected.
The application deadline is Friday, February 16, 2018. Limited partial scholarships are available.
Sister Cities International, a nonprofit established in 1985, promotes Fort Worth internationally and provides the community with international education, exchange and commerce opportunities, according to its website.
