Eight Influential FWISD Graduates Added to the Wall of Fame
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Kent P. Scribner hosted an event friday, March 23, to introduce the latest additions to the District’s Wall of Fame. This group of honorees includes leaders in journalism, sports, engineering, medicine, education, community service and the military:
- Lesia Crumpton-Young, Ph.D. (Dunbar HS, 1984) – Vice President of Research and Institutional Advancement, Tennessee State University; Recipient of the U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence; Former Associate Provost, Texas A&M; Author of numerous scholarly publications
- Fiske Hanley II (Paschal HS, 1938) – Second Lieutenant and B-29 Flight Engineer with the 504th Bombardment Group who was shot down over Japan during World War II and held prisoner; Aeronautical engineer at General Dynamics; Author, Accused American War Criminal
- Rogers Hornsby (North Side HS) – Baseball legend who earned seven batting titles, two Triple Crowns, a .358 lifetime batting average, two MVP awards, and managed the 1926 World Series-winning St. Louis Cardinals (deceased)
- Devoyd Jennings (I.M. Terrell HS, 1966) – President and CEO of the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce; Board member, Texas Wesleyan University and the Texas Association of Business
- William McKenzie (Arlington Heights, 1972) – 2010 Pulitzer Prize winner for editorial writing while at the Dallas Morning News; currently Magazine Editor at the George W. Bush Institute
- Ronnie Mills (Arlington Heights HS, 1969) – Swimmer who won a Bronze medal and was a member of the USA relay team that won a Gold medal at the 1968 Olympics; NCAA All-American at SMU; member of the International and Texas Swimming and Diving Halls of Fame
- Rebekah Ann Naylor (Paschal HS, 1960) – Missionary surgeon at Bangalore Baptist Hospital in India; Founder, the Rebekah Ann Naylor School of Nursing in Bangalore; Founder, Mercy Clinic; Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, UT Southwestern Medical Center; 2016 Recipient of the American College of Surgeons Humanitarian Award
- Alfred Saenz (Trimble Tech HS, 1966) – Chairman and CEO of Multatech, an engineering and architectural firm; Board Chairman of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Board Chairman of the North Texas Community Foundation; Former Board President of the Fort Worth Opera
These eight individuals join the more than 170 others on the Wall of Fame whose remarkable success stories have in common a Fort Worth ISD education.
