FWISD WEEK 8: Big games in 4-5A and 6-4A on top this week
Farrington Field is the site for a Friday afternoon Fort Worth ISD showdown in District 4-5A, as North Side (2-0 in district) and Eastern Hills (2-1) collide for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. (The game was originally scheduled for Thursday night.) The winner remains squarely in the playoff race with a spot at the top of the standings.
The Steers stayed unbeaten in district with last week’s 33-29 comeback victory over Southwest. North Side rallied from a 29-20 deficit in the second half, pulling ahead on Da'Wain Lofton’s 1-yard touchdown run. Lofton scored four times, including an 80-yard kickoff return that spurred the rally.
The Highlanders bounced back from their lone league loss with a big win over Carter-Riverside last week. Even though Eastern Hills is looking up at North Side in the standings, the Highlanders have history on their side having beaten the Steers 36-14 last season.
Dunbar (2-0 in district) has a chance to jump to the top of 6-4A with Friday night’s visit to district-leading Kennedale (3-0) in a clash of Wildcats. Dunbar has won its two league contests by a combined 79-13, while Kennedale has blown out all three district foes.
Also in District 6-4A, Benbrook celebrates its homecoming against Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Friday night at Handley Field.
