Paschal Wins Fort Worth ISD High School Whiz Quiz
Paschal High School was the big winner Thursday evening after intense and exciting rounds of Fort Worth ISD High School Whiz Quiz competition. Paschal defeated Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences (TABS) in the finals.
Earlier in the evening, Paschal topped Young Men’s Leadership Academy in the first semi-final. TABS defeated Arlington Heights High School in the second semi-final.
Media celebrity Jeff Jamison, a former Whiz Quiz participant at Western Hills High School, asked the questions.
The Southwest High School Jazz Ensemble entertained between matches. Gold Seal Advanced Media Program students from Southwest took on real-world roles for the live production, including hosting, operating cameras, and floor directing. The District streamed the matches on YouTube and aired them live on Spectrum 192 and ATT U-verse 99.
Kroger sponsored a culinary segment. Trimble Tech High School Gold Seal culinary students prepared appetizers – savory gourmet meatballs and sweet biscuits with strawberries and Chantilly cream – and served them to the audience. Pizza Snobprovided dinner for the student production crew.
On Wednesday night, McLean Middle School won the middle school finals. World Languages Institute took the 6th grade championship on Tuesday. Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist and FWISD alum Bud Kennedy asked the questions Tuesday night.
