(Monday, May 17, 2021) -- The Fort Worth ISD is pleased to announce that Brianna Bell of Polytechnic HS is the newest Gary Manny Scholarship recipient.

The scholarship, valued at $2,000, is a merit-based award with the following criteria for FWISD high school seniors:

  • GPA – 3.0 minimum
  • Essay
  • Transcript
  • SAT/ACT score(s)
  • Letters of recommendation (2)
  • Extracurricular activities and community service

Brianna, in her own words, believed she was deserving of this recognition because her life mirrors that of Mr. Manny’s. She said: Gary Manny’s story resonated with me upon reading it. Graduating with

honors from Polytechnic High School and hopefully later from Texas Christian University – like Gary Manny – is my mission. Likewise, I intend to dedicate my life to community service by helping those in need whenever I can.”

Gary Manny was a lifelong Fort Worth resident.  He received his education through Fort Worth independent schools, graduating from Polytechnic High School summa cum laude in 1963 and later TCU.

In 1986, Gary Manny was elected to serve District 5 on the Fort Worth ISD Board of Education.  In 1988, he was elected Board President.
