Students and Families: Use Fort Worth ISD’s Free Online Summer Reading Resources
Families: it’s more important than ever to make time for reading this summer.
And, Fort Worth ISD is providing free online reading resources that are both easy to use and can fit into a family’s summer schedule.
All you need is a browser to connect to the program for every grade level from Pre-K to 12th grade.
Here’s how it works: students can select articles to read that interest them and can share what they learn with their parents. Parents can reward their children when they achieve an activity score of 75 percent or higher to recognize them for their accomplishments. The online resources provide many suggestions for students and parents to get the most out of their summer reading activities.
Visit https://www.fwisd.org/summerreadingresources to learn more about supporting student literacy and preventing summer slide. Reading even a little bit every day helps students maintain their skills through the summer.

- KidBiz Pro for grades 2 – 5: Suggested 30 minutes practice each day
- TeenBiz Pro for grades 6 – 8: Suggested 45 minutes practice each day

Fort Worth ISD’s early literacy initiative – called 100 X 25 FWTX – sets a goal of 100% of third-graders reading on grade level or above by the year 2025. Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent P. Scribner is partnering with Mayor Betsy Price, BNSF Executive Chairman Matt Rose to lead the community-wide Read Fort Worth initiative. This collective impact strategy engages parents, grandparents, and caregivers as well as volunteers from the city’s business sector, higher education, non-profit organizations, and the faith-based community.
