Fort Worth ISD Partners with Facebook as New Career & Technical Education Teaching Chair Sponsor
Facebook is the newest sponsor in the 2021-2022 Fort Worth ISD Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence award program. The company is the title sponsor of the Facebook Chair for Teaching Excellence in Career & Technical Education.
Facebook representatives will sit on the selection committee to review and score teacher applications and teacher video demonstrations, and they will participate in the finalists’ panel interview to name the 2021-2022 winner. The winning teacher in this category will receive a $5,000 cash award and the title of Chair of Teaching Excellence for one year.
“Facebook is a strong supporter of the Fort Worth Independent School District, especially around CTE and STEM programming,” said Superintendent Kent P. Scribner. “They know the importance of career and technical education (CTE) and the real-world, hands-on opportunities it provides, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to our students and teachers.”
“We are honored to be given this opportunity to recognize the outstanding teachers that inspire young minds to pursue STEM careers through CTE,” said Holli Davies, Facebook Community Development Regional Manager. “Facebook has been a part of Tarrant County since we broke ground on our data center in 2015, and we are committed to being a good community partner, especially when it comes to students.”
Each year, the Fort Worth ISD Chairs for Teaching Excellence rewards outstanding classroom teachers in 16 categories. Dedicated partnership sponsors have provided cash awards since the program’s inception in 1994.
Each category has its own selection committee. Teachers selected as finalists undergo a rigorous evaluation process based on their application; a teaching demonstration recorded on video; and an interview session with their respective selection committee.
Each Teaching Chair’s campus will receive a banner to display in a prominent location. In addition, a photograph of each winner will be on display at the FWISD Teaching and Learning Center for one year.
