Police Announce Arrest in Vicious Student Assault
Fort Worth, Texas, July 18, 2018 – At an afternoon news conference today at Fort Worth Police headquarters investigators announced they had arrested a suspect in connection with the April 19, 2018 assault of a 13-year old Fort Worth ISD student.
The arrest was made this morning in Oklahoma City with the assistance of that police department and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The suspect has been identified as Terry Wayne King II, a truck driver, who will face a charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, a first degree felony.
The young student, who attended the International Newcomer Academy remains hospitalized. Police acknowledged they don’t know why King attacked the student who was able to fend off the assault and run away to seek shelter on a school bus. The Fort Worth ISD bus driver called police.
Superintendent Kent P. Scribner said of the arrest:
“We are extremely grateful to the persistence and dedication of all the law enforcement professionals who helped bring this senseless and tragic event to this point. Our hearts and prayers remain with the family and the young student as they face a long road of recovery.”
