Conference Offers Educators Tips for Helping Students Succeed Post-Graduation

About 200 Fort Worth ISD educators spent their February 1 Waiver Day receiving essential tips on preparing students for success after high school.

Experts equipped secondary school counselors, college and career readiness coaches, college advisers and others with the latest post-secondary tools and strategies at the fifth annual NACAC Essentials Professional Learning Conference. The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) event, hosted at the Region 11 Education Service Center in White Settlement, featured keynote speakers Catalina Cifuentes, who was recently named the deputy superintendent of the performance, planning, and technology branch of the California Department of Education (CDE), Lt. Col. John B. Bradley, a field artillery officer currently serving as a professor of military science at Tarleton State University and Michelle Morgan, vice president at Fort Worth-based crime prevention agency One Safe Place.

The conference also included a counselor college fair and more than 21 breakout sessions offering attendees applications and web-based programs that help students plan for life after high school.
