Daggett Montessori Named One Act Play Champion

Congratulations to Daggett Montessori whose performance of “Our Place” took home first-place honors at the recent Middle School UIL One-Act Play Competition. 

Applied Leaning Academy’s rendition of “Dark Road” and Monnig’s performance of “Digging up the Boys” received second- and third-place honors, respectively. ALA also received Best Crew honors.

The District event was hosted, Saturday, March 2 at the I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA.

Six middle school theater groups competed in the event including Benbrook Middle-High, Como and McLean.

Individual students were also recognized with all-star cast recognitions for their respective roles. They are: 

Best Actor: Laith Suliman, Daggett Montessori, Jake/Stanley in “Our Place”


Best Actress:  Lauren Strong, ALA, Greta in “Dark Road”

Contest organizers say the contest is a friendly competition designed to encourage and enhance student learning.

The six theater groups advanced to the finals after competing in One Act Play events hosted earlier this month at Stripling Middle School and I.M. Terrell.
