Lily B. Clayton Readers Get a Surprise Visit from Clifford
It’s something the kids at Lily B. Clayton Elementary School will be talking about all weekend. To their surprise, Clifford the Big Red Dog paid a visit to their classrooms Friday morning to celebrate the many hours the Lily B. students put into reading.
The reading push is part of the NCAA Team Works Readers Become Leaders elementary literacy program that wrapped up Thursday in Fort Worth ISD. The District implemented the program through a partnership with NCAA Team Works, Read Fort Worthand Visit FortWorth.
The school with the most logged reading minutes will be announced at the Fort Worth ConventionCenter, April 18, at the open practice of the National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championship.
Readers Become Leaders supports Fort Worth ISD’s 100X25 FWTX goal, which is to have 100 percent of Fort Worth third-graders reading on grade level by 2025.
