Fort Worth ISD JROTC Cadets Explore Washington, D.C. Area Historic Sites
The Honors U.S. Military History program, sponsored by Fort Worth ISD’s JROTCDepartment, transports students well beyond the classroom and textbooks. Through experiential “Staff Rides,” students travel to places where history was actually made and is often still being made. Staff Rides blend fun-filled travel with aspects of political science, military culture, international relations, law, literature, art and philosophy.
On a recent Staff Ride a select group of honor students explored the Antietam NationalBattlefield, Harper’s Ferry, Mount Vernon, the halls of Congress, the National Holocaust Museum, the African American History and Cultural Museum and the Washington Mall.
In honor of this week’s celebrations of Independence Day, walk with our cadets in this video as they learn and react to the world that was opened to them.
