FWISD CTE Students To Learn About BNSF Career Pathways During Virtual Event This Week
Fort Worth ISD Career and Technical Education seniors are hearing from leaders at one of this region’s largest employers this October.
On the mornings of October 20 and 21, the CTE Department is hosting BNSF Virtual Career Day, a virtual webinar designed to increase student awareness about local industry partners and careers.
Organizers for the two-day event say the program offers students knowledge of the multiple career pathways and availabilities at BNSF and what it takes to become an employee there. It also serves as an important method for recruiting and retaining a local workforce.
The BNSF Virtual Career Day is being divided into focus areas. The schedule includes:

- IT, Cybersecurity, Drones, Architecture and Construction, STEM, Logistics, Ground Transportation
- 10:15 - 10:45 a.m.

- October 21
- 8:45 - 9:45 a.m.

- 10:15-10:45 a.m.

BNSF Railway, which headquarters in Fort Worth, is one the largest employers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, employing more than 30,000 employees. It’s also one of the leading freight transportation companies in North America. The BNSF rail network stretches 32,500 route miles across 28 states and three Canadian provinces transporting millions of agricultural, consumer, and industrial products.
The company offers multiple career opportunities in many departments.
“BNSF is such a large company that is comprised of several different departments almost like a city within itself. They have departments such as IT, security, railway operations and even culinary and much more,” says Ms. Brookins, in the introduction video.
