Diamond Hill-Jarvis HS State Track Champion to be Honored Monday Morning at School

Diamond Hill Jarvis High School’s Angel Sanchez claimed the title of UIL State Champion in the 4A Boys 1600-meterrun at the State Track and Field competition in Austin on Thursday night.

And, on Monday morning, he will receive a hero’s welcome at his high school.

Sanchez, a sophomore, won the school’s first track state medal and the school’s first track state gold medal during the May 12 competition. He had finished second in the 4A Boys 3200-meter run earlier in the day, a win that presaged his gold medal performance later that evening. 

When Angel returns to school this Monday at 9 a.m., he will be greeted by the high school band, cheerleaders and fellow students. Community members and media are also invited to share and witness the historic moment for the DHJ Eagles.
