FWISD Board Of Education Names TAD Board Appointee
The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education has selected the District’s appointee to the Tarrant County Appraisal District Board of Directors (TAD Board). The FWISD Board appointed Joseph Ralph (J.R.) Martinez to the TAD Board at a special meeting Thursday, September 10.
The TAD Board oversees the function of the Tarrant County Appraisal District.
Taxing units (the districts within its jurisdiction) appoint TAD Board members to two-year volunteer terms. The TAD Board consists of five directors and the county assessor-collector, who is not a voting member of the Board.
Prior to Thursday’s vote, Mr. Martinez shared with FWISD trustees experience that he believes qualifies him for the TAD Board appointment.
“As a 15-year realtor and past Fort Worth ISD trustee, I understand the TAD appraisal process and its effects on both the governmental entities that use the data and the taxpayers,” Mr. Martinez said. “As a realtor, working with appraisals and understanding how properties are evaluated is definitely a regular part of my business. My service as a Fort Worth ISD trustee provided me the knowledge of how to handle the knowledge on behalf of a diverse district to achieve the best outcome of all.
“I’m confident I have the skills and experience to be a benefit to the Tarrant Appraisal Board of Directors representing the Fort Worth ISD. “
Mr. Martinez replaces John Molyneaux who is no longer able to serve in the capacity, according to a resolution approved by the FWISD Board on August 10. Mr. Molyneaux was first appointed to the TAD Board in 2002.
