WHO: Southwest High School Student Council
WHAT: Pyramid Angel Tree Holiday Celebration
WHEN: 9:45 a.m. to noon Wednesday, December 12
WHERE: Southwest High School Library, 4100 Altamesa Blvd.
SUMMARY: Students at Fort Worth ISD’s Southwest High School will support nearly 40 elementary school students with gifts this holiday season.
The Southwest High School Student Council will host its annual Pyramid Angel Tree Holiday Celebration from 9:45 a.m. to noon Wednesday, December 12 in the school library. A total of 36 specially selected students from Southwest High’s feeder campuses, Hazel Harvey Peace, Bruce Shulkey, Woodway and JT Stevens Elementary Schools will receive gifts from various student organizations and groups.
“They try to provide them with the holiday that they might not otherwise have,” said Richard Johnson, a FWISD family communications specialist.
Nine disadvantaged students from each pyramid elementary school are “adopted” by Southwest high classes organizations and groups to receive gifts valued up to $75. Elementary counselors communicate with parents of the “adopted” children to determine their wants and needs.
