Paschal HS’ Panther Corps Among TMEA Convention Performers This Week
Panther Corps, the men’s ensemble from Fort Worth ISD’s Paschal High School, is among the select performers slated for the 2019 Texas Music Educators Clinic/Convention this week in San Antonio.
The ensemble will become the District’s first choir performing at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention when it takes the stage at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 14 at San Antonio’s Henry B. González Convention Center.
“This coveted invitation is only extended to 12 ensembles across the state of Texas each year, and only two men’s ensembles are invited,” said Dinah Menger, FWISD’s director of choral and elementary music. “This invitation is the first for any Fort Worth ISD choral program in the history of the District.”
Mr. Nathan Benavides and Mrs. Trevlyn Nipper are the Panther Corps directors.
Ahead of its big TMEA performance, the ensemble performed a free local concert, Tuesday, February 5. The show titled “This Is My Song” celebrated diversity through music of various world traditions including Mexico, Pakistan, Germany, Estonia and Finland.
