Saturday Night Fire at Atwood-McDonald Elementary School Will Change Routine for Students, Teachers on Monday
Fort Worth authorities are investigating an overnight arson fire at Fort Worth ISD’s Atwood-McDonald Elementary School,1850 Barron Lane, in East Fort Worth. The blaze was reportedly set by an individual who broke into the school. However, District surveillance equipment and the quick action of a Fort Worth ISD security team member prevented what could have been much more serious damage.
A District employee who was monitoring security cameras saw someone break into the school and quickly summoned police. Authorities were already on their way to the location when the fire broke out. A person of interest has been detained.
Because of some smoke damage and the need to thoroughly clean parts of the premises, there will be changes in routine tomorrow, Monday, October 4, for students and teachers. Drop-off and pick-up locations at the school will be temporarily relocated. There will be personnel at the campus in the morning and in the afternoon to direct students and families to the correct entrances and exits. Some classrooms may be temporarily relocated.
