Mental Health Matching Through the Family Resource Center
(Thursday, February 11, 2021) -- The Fort Worth ISD Family Resource Centers (FRCs) have licensed mental health clinicians available to help FWISD students and families. Clinicians are available to respond to parents and assist them by providing them with a consultation.
If the parent desires to move forward with services, FRC staff will ensure that all students and families, regardless of income, insurance, language, transportation, or any other barrier, can access resources. The FRCs offer both virtual and in-person services with many local providers and are experts in matching the student/family with the best provider to meet their need. If you need assistance, please call 817-814-2870 or email FRCEmails@fwisd.org. The Family Resource Centers are open year-round, Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pre-COVID, up to 1 in 5 children struggle with mental health issues. Since COVID, there has been an even bigger need, approximate 20% increase, for mental health services. Children and adolescents are more likely to experience more social isolation, increase social media use, and loss. The goal is to increase the ease of access to services, especially those students who are virtual.
