Ask Elsie
EDITOR'S NOTE: Ask Elsie is a column where Chief Financial Officer Elsie Schiro tackles employee queries, or in areas outside her purview, asks other District leaders to answer them.
Dear Elsie,
Why do inclusion teachers not have access to student data using Eduphoria?
I was told to set up monitor lists, however, even after having set up the lists, I did not ever gain access to student data.
Thanks for your time,
Dwayne Heinsen (M. Ed.)
Dear Mr. Heinsen,
Thank you for your question.
I reached out to Dr. Mariagrazia Sheffield, assistant superintendent of special populations, and she had this to say on the matter: "Special education inclusion Teachers do have access to their special education students' data in Eduphoria.
However, there are two steps that need to be followed in order to gain access to the student data: 1) Set up the student-monitor list (as this teacher has already done), and 2) Ensure that a campus administrator approves the student-monitor list in the system.
If teachers need additional assistance with this process, they can access the 'help resources' via the 'help menu' in Eduphoria or call Accountability and Data Quality (ADQ) at 817-814-1620."
Thank you for writing, Mr. Heinsen, and thank you Dr. Sheffield for your response.

Dear Elsie,
I have two questions.
1. Has the District considered partnerships for interns for business service positions? How are we recruiting for positions in the business/finance division?
2. Is there a staffing ratio done for departments? Is there a need analysis done?
Aracely Chavez
Dear Ms. Chavez,
Thank you for questions.
I reached out to Cynthia Rincon, chief of Human Capital Management, and this is her response:
"(1) Many of the departments within the business and finance division reach out to various entities; colleges; campuses; other organizations to utilize interns in the field of expertise sought. (2)The District continues to work on expanding our recruitment efforts beyond traditional campus teacher roles. We use many avenues including job boards such as TASBO, and other association pages and job-posting sites, job boards with Google search, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, K12JobSpot.com and Teachers-Teachers.com. On-the-ground recruitment effort involves contact with the local university career centers, work with university partnerships, and non-educational venues (veterans, career job fairs, trade schools, etc.)"
"Presently, there are only draft guidelines regarding staffing ratios for teachers, administrators, counselors, etc. Regarding staffing ratios for departments, the District is currently gathering information from other similar districts and has recently gathered staffing information from TASB. If a department believes that they need additional staff, the business and finance division has a process for those requests through PAM (Position Action Management)."
Thank you for writing, Ms. Chavez, and thank you Ms. Rincon for your response.
