Pre-K Literacy Fair Offers Registration Help, Free Resources
Register for pre-kindergarten and enjoy a fun-filled day with the Fort Worth Independent School District at its annual Pre-K Literacy Fair, Saturday, April 7.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., FREE books, fun activities and resources from more than 20 District departments and community organizations will be available to families at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, 5201 C.A. Roberson Blvd. Clifford the Big Red Dog will also be onsite visiting with children.
District personnel will be on hand to assist families in registering online for pre-K for the 2018-2019 school year who were unable to attend campus registration, April 2-6.
To register, families will be asked to upload:
- Parent/Guardian photo identification
- Proof of age and identity of student
- Immunization record
- Proof of address (utility bill or lease)
- Proof of income
If some of these items are not available prior to submission of the online application, there will be an opportunity for parents to share them at a later date. However, parents are urged to upload as many of the requested documents as they can.
Services for obtaining a birth certificate will also be available onsite through Tarrant County Clerk’s Vital Records office. Certificates are $23 and will include a 3 percent processing fee. Cash, check and credit card payments will be accepted.
Birth certificate requestors must:
- Be an immediate family member including mother, father, grandparent, sibling, step-relation, or guardian
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide identification in their name including but not limited to:
- Valid U.S. driver's license
- Military ID or state ID
- U.S. passport
- Expired U.S. driver's license AND signed Social Security card
- U.S. medical insurance card AND recent bank statement AND recent pay stub
- Foreign passport with unexpired visa AND signed U.S. Medicaid/Medicare card AND library card
- Mexican voter’s registration card AND valid auto insurance, registration or title AND current utility bill
Students who have never been enrolled in FWISD and who do not speak or hear English at home must take an assessment test to determine the best program placement for the student. The Student Placement Center, an office of the District’s Bilingual/ English as a Second Language Department, will be onsite to administer the tests.
