Five FWISD Schools Recognized by U.S. News and World Report
Three Fort Worth ISD high schools are ranked among the top 200 Best High Schools in Texas, according to rankings released by U.S. News and World Report Wednesday, May 9. Additionally, the District had five schools earning medals and national recognition by the publication.
Fort Worth ISD’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences(TABS) and Trimble Tech High School each ranked on the U.S. News Texas and national Best High Schools list earning silver rankings, respectively.
The three schools ranked as follows:
YWLA (No. 100 in Texas and No. 761 nationally);
TABS (No. 157 in Texas and No. 1,359 nationally);
Trimble Tech (No. 184 in Texas and No. 2,009 nationally).
The District’s Marine Creek Collegiate and Tarrant County College South schools earned bronze medals. Schools receiving bronze medals by U.S. News do not receive a national ranking but are nationally recognized.
The Best High Schools rankings are based on an evaluation of high school student performance on state math and reading exams, test performance of minority and economically disadvantaged students, graduation rates and how well a school prepared its students for college based on performance on advanced academic exams in which students can earn college credit, such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate.
