FWISD Board President Jacinto Ramos, Jr. Inaugurated as Leader of MASBA
Fort Worth ISD Board of Education President Jacinto Ramos Jr. has another new leadership role -- president of the Mexican American School Board Association.
Ramos will be sworn in as leader of MASBA Saturday evening during a ceremony in San Antonio, Texas, as the organization celebrates its 50 year anniversary.
The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) is a voluntary, non-profit, statewide education association that has served local Texas school boards since 1970. MASBA is focused on closing gaps in Texas public schools, particularly for the Latinx students who comprise the majority of students statewide.
Mr. Ramos is a national, state, and community leader. He is a leader on educational policy, racial/ethnic equity, and school board governance. He is also the chair of the 2019-2020 Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) as well as on the Board of Directors of theTexas Association of School Boards (TASB.)
“I am excited and grateful that Fort Worth ISD is represented at the local, state, and national levels as our District leads the work toward racial equity,” said Mr. Ramos. “Good governance and leadership at many levels are what is needed to close the achievement gap and ensure the best possible education for all students.”
Mr. Ramos works as the Chief of Governance and Leadership at Leadership ISD. You may read his full bio here. You may watch his address to the 2019 CUBE Conference here.
“We congratulate President Ramos,” said Superintendent Kent P. Scribner. “We are fortunate to have our trustees take the lead in the important work of supporting initiatives that will result in improved achievement for all students.”
