Fort Worth ISD, in partnership with the NCAA, the Fort Worth Sports Commission and the Scholastic Book Company, completed its third year of the Readers Become Leaders program with area elementary students. The five-week program engaged 112 classrooms, which read a collective total of 148,124 minutes.
Mrs. Van Ausdall’s winning classroom was surprised by an outside visit from their principal, Ms. Lindsay Staros, the gymnastics host committee, and a BIG surprise visit from Clifford, the Big Red Dog. The class were honored with an inscribed trophy and will receive 500 books for the classroom library. Each student will also be gifted with three personal books --and the entire class will enjoy a pizza party.
The trophy presentation will be featured on the ESPN telecast of the NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championship hosted at Dickies Arena, April 16-17.
