FWISD Board of Education Approves Special Election for District 4 Vacant Seat
On Jan. 18, the Fort Worth ISD Board of Education voted unanimously to hold a special election to fill the District 4 seat left vacant following the Nov. 5 passing of District 4 trustee Daphne Brookins.
The special election is scheduled for May 7, 2022. Only qualified voters residing in District 4 will be eligible to vote for a new District 4 single member to serve the remainder of the four-term set to expire in 2025.
Early voting hours and locations, as well as Election Day polling locations, will be determined by the board at a later meeting.
Interested candidates must reside within the district boundaries for six (6) months prior to the final day to file. The final day to file is March 7, 2022, by 5 p.m.
The FWISD Board of Education also voted to approve a joint election agreement with the Tarrant County Elections Administration to conduct the election. Services provided by the Tarrant County Elections Administration will include overseeing polling site location, equipment, judges, clerks, training of appropriate personnel, and other associated services.
