Women's History Month: The Grandmother of Juneteenth Shares Wisdom with Dunbar Women
”For Heavens sake, get your education, don’t let anything stop you!” Wise words from FWISD Alumna and activist Opal Lee. Celebrating the kick-off to Women’s History month, Ms. Lee shared her wisdom and inspiration with a roomful of 100 young women at Dunbar High School.
Hosted by United Way Executive VP, Regina Williams, the panel discussion presented opportunities for the students to ask Ms. Lee questions about her walk as a woman of influence.
Opal Lee is a 1943 graduate of I.M. Terrell High School, Fort Worth's first black high school and often referred to as the Grandmother of Juneteenth.
