Paschal Wins the FWISD Whiz Quiz High School Championship
Paschal High School defeated Benbrook Middle-High School to take Fort Worth ISD’s high school Whiz Quiz Championship Thursday night.
Earlier in the evening during the semi-finals, Paschal beat Arlington Heights and Benbrook topped the Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences (TABS).
“Our students learn so much and develop important life skills in these academic matches, which begin as early as September,” said Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent Scribner. “We are proud of them and the many dedicated teachers who coach them during the contests. It is an outstanding team effort.”
CBS 11 meteorologist Jeff Jamison asked the questions for the Thursday matches. He is a Fort Worth ISD graduate and former Whiz Quiz contestant.
Southwest High School’s Advanced Media Program (AMP) students took part in the live production. The Southwest High School Jazz Band entertained at the event. And, culinary students from O.D. Wyatt High School treated the audience to gourmet hors d'oeuvres between matches. Pizza Snob, a generous partner of Fort Worth ISD, donated the ingredients.
The Thursday night contests wrapped up a week of finals in the “Sport of Knowledge.” McLean Sixth took the sixth-grade championship and Daggett Montessori won the middle school championships.
