Jump Into Physics With Fun, Engaging Summer Camp
Are you a Fort Worth ISD girl taking your first physics class next fall?
Spend the summer gearing up for the course riding a hover craft, making ice cream with liquid nitrogen, meeting female scientists and engineers and visiting a local high-tech company.
The Physics Camps for Young Women, slated for June 11-22 at Paschal High School, 3001 Forest Park Blvd., is offering young girls a fun and engaging two weeks of hands-on physics activities. The camp sessions take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Officials with the FWISD Science Department say the camp empowers young girls to become interested in STEM courses and careers. Camp participants will be exposed to activities in static electricity and other physics-related exercises. Participants can also compete for prizes in a Physics Bowl competition.
Registration is free for qualifying students with a valid FWISD student identification number. The camp includes lunch, snacks, transportation, a T-shirt and a free Texas Instruments graphing calculator.
Camp registration is open through May 15 and filling up quickly.
