Attendance Adds Up at Trimble Tech High School!
FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Following the Fort Worth School District’s push to increase attendance percentages, Trimble Tech Principal Omar Ramos remembered the success he had boosting his school’s attendance in 2004 with a car give-away incentive. Hoping that Trimble Tech could once again boost their attendance rate for the end of the 2017-2018 school year, Principal Ramos collaborated with Mr. Roger Williams, owner of Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, and with Mr. John Avila, Chairman of the Board of Byrne Construction Services. With their financial help and some attendance incentive money from the District, a vehicle was purchased.
On May 21, 2018, Green B. Trimble Technical High School took delivery of a 2016 White Jeep Compass with a little over 35,000 miles as a special attendance incentive award. The Jeep Compass was parked in front of the school while students were arriving on that Monday morning, causing quite a bit of excitement as they could see how their attendance could pay off for them!
This attendance incentive program began during the 4th Six Weeks grading period. Students received 2 “Bulldog Bucks” for every week that they were present in class EVERY DAY with NO TARDIES. At the end of every week, rosters were posted around the school listing students with perfect attendance as well as the class with the best percentage of attendance. Posters with “Attendance Adds Up” were hung around the building and in classrooms, and teachers also distributed extra Bulldog Bucks through their classrooms.
Weekly drawings from the students with perfect attendance were made, and an electronics prize was given to one student per week. In addition, teachers with perfect attendance were entered into drawings for gift baskets and restaurant gift certificates. The weekly winners were celebrated on our Trimble Tech website and Facebook pages.
On Thursday, May 31, 2018, at around 12:00 p.m., Principal Omar Ramos and Assistant Principal over Attendance Doug Dehn will conduct the final drawing to award the car. Ten student names will be drawn, each student will receive a key, but only one key will start the car! It will be an exciting day at Trimble Tech High School!
