FWISD Culinary Students Run ‘Tasting Stations’ at the Cowtown C.A.L.F. Run
Culinary arts students from Fort Worth ISD’s Polytechnic, Trimble Technical, and North Side High Schools prepared food for the Cowtown C.A.L.F. Run, Saturday, October 6.
The three culinary programs made and served healthy food samples to race participants from tasting stations at the Coyote Drive-In in Fort Worth. The students also distributed recipe cards, interacted with event participants and took feedback via surveys.
The team from Polytechnic High School, led by Career and Technical Education Teachers Mike Gantz and Kevin Karnes, prepared and served a house-made yogurt and fruit parfait.
Trimble Technical High School, led by CTE Teacher Natasha Bruton, offered a Pancakes All Day booth as well as cauliflower soup and watermelon gazpacho.
Over at North Side High School’s tasting station, students served chicken salad wonton cups. The team is led by teachers Marcum Tubbs and Kim Church.
The Cowtown C.A.L.F. Run tasting stations are coordinated by FitWorth, a community movement encouraging the Fort Worth residents to become physically active and adopt healthy eating habits. Each participating high school culinary program receives a grocery gift card to purchase food and utensils for the event.
The Cowtown C.A.L.F. Run, presented by Texas Capital Bank is a 5K, 10K, 1-Mile walk and run. Click here for more details.
