Volunteers Construct a New Playground at Worth Heights ES
Students at Fort Worth ISD’s Worth Heights Elementary School have a new playground to be grateful for this Thanksgiving, a generous donation from nonprofit Carter’s Kids.
Volunteers from Carter’s Kids founded by TV personality Carter Oosterhouse, and an additional 40 volunteers from American Airlines recently assembled the new playground on school grounds. A ribbon cutting took place Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Worth Heights Elementary. View images from the ribbon cutting here.
“We are so very thankful to Carter’s Kids and American Airlines for creating a new, safe, and most importantly fun playground for our students to play, create, imagine, and energize,” said Andrea Lange, Worth Heights Elementary Principal. “This playground is not only utilized by our students, but also by our kids and families in the Worth Heights community. This improvement and addition means a lot to the community.”
The red and blue 52-by-46-foot playground features multiple slides and climbing activities for children to enjoy. As the red ribbon was cut, christening the new playground, children ran to experience and enjoy it up close. The ribbon cutting event also included remarks and thank you cards made by students.
Through the development of community parks and playgrounds, Carter’s Kids “creates awareness of fitness and self-esteem for America’s youth,” according to its website. Learn more about the organization at carters-kids.org.
Officials with Fort Worth-based American Airlines said that they were proud to partner with Carter’s Kids to construct the playground at Worth Heights Elementary.
“American Airlines’ purpose is to care for people on life’s journey. This is a mission that extends beyond the airline and into the communities they serve,” said Caroline Barksdale, a Global Communications coordinator for American Airlines’ Central Region. “As the company is headquartered in Fort Worth, and DFW is its largest hub, American is proud to support this community where so many of its team members and customers live.Carter’s Kids gives American the opportunity to support these neighborhoods in a very special way; through building playgrounds for its families and students to enjoy for years to come.”
