FWISD Students Compete, Place in National Contests
Fort Worth ISD students recently achieved top 10 finishes at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) 2019 national leadership conference competitions, respectively.
A Trimble Tech High School team finished third in the nation in FCCLA’s Applied Math for Culinary Management competition, received gold medals and $20,000 scholarships to Sullivan University were awarded to each competing team member. The team includes Maria Hernandez, Orlando Hernandez Palacios and Miriam Perez Vega. Trimble Tech’s FCCLA advisers are Natasha Bruton and Heather Kurima.
The FCCLA National Leadership Conference was hosted June 30- July 4 in Anaheim, California. For more FCCLA details, visit https://www.fcclainc.org/.
Stephanie Trevino of South Hills High School represented her campus in the Mobile Application Development competition at the FBLA 2019 National Leadership Conference and finished sixth. She was the only female competitor in the top 10 for this particular contest. South Hill’s FBLA advisers are Julie Fisher, Saleta Thomas, and Tracey Gillespie.
