FWISD WEEK 7: Homecoming week even sweeter with wins

Mums, pep rallies, kings and queens rule this week, as homecoming is being celebrated across Fort Worth ISD. Six of the seven games on the District docket center around the annual festivities that welcome back alumni to remember the glory days.

As meaningful as it is to win on homecoming, the race to the playoffs is front and center as schools get into the heart of the district season. While there is plenty of football to be played, teams are looking to create separation in the standings.

District 4-5A features a trio of interesting games, with several teams aiming for a second league win to stay squarely in postseason position. North Side (1-0 in district) is coming off a bye week and is the homecoming foe for Southwest (1-1 in district) Thursday night at Clark Stadium. Justin Northwest (2-0) and O.D. Wyatt (1-0) square off the same night in a battle of undefeated district squads. Eastern Hills (1-1 in district) looks to keep pace Friday night in its homecoming against Carter-Riverside (0-2 in district).

The featured affair in District 6-4A is Benbrook (1-1) as the homecoming opponent for Dunbar (1-0) Saturday at Clark Stadium. Both the Bobcats and Wildcats are on the heels of Lake Worth and Kennedale atop the league.

Paschal, Arlington Heights and Eastern Hills are also hosting homecoming.
