Donors, Volunteers Needed for FWISD’s 4th MLK Jr. Day of Service
Fort Worth ISD is collecting food, toiletries, and winter accessories to support the city’s itinerant community.
Through Tuesday, Jan. 11, the entire FWISD community is invited to contribute to a gift registry established at www.fwisd.org/mlkgiftregistry. As part of FWISD’s fourth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, members of the itinerant community in Fort Worth’s West Lancaster Avenue Corridor will be gifted with the donated items.
All Fort Worth ISD staff is invited to join District Central Administration Leadership, Board of Education trustees, and city leaders in a day of service to others on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Monday, Jan. 17.

The following volunteer shifts are available:
- Care Package Assembly: 7 a.m., FWISD Central Administration Building, 100 N. University Drive.

Since 2019, FWISD employees have spent a portion of the MLK federal holiday serving their Fort Worth neighbors in need. Annually, Americans are encouraged to participate in service projects in their communities to honor the birth date of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., who advocated nonviolently in the 1950s and `60s for the civil rights of Black Americans.
FWISD’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is one of two service events District employees and students participate in annually. In March, students take part in service projects honoring César Chávez and Dolores Huerta, who worked tirelessly for decades advocating for the civil rights of labor workers.
