STAAR Ready
Dear Families, Next week fourth and fifth grade students will take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR. Alice Carlson is a community of learners so as a community we all have a part in supporting those who are testing. You can do your part by seeing your own children are rested and ready to be at school. This will serve to ensure that fourth and fifth grade students have the best learning environment in which to test. Fourth and fifth graders especially need a good night's rest and a good breakfast, preferably filled with protein. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are "closed campus" days. Parents may not eat with their children of any grade on those days. This will allow staff to focus on students and keeping the hallways calm and clear. We appreciate your understanding. The teachers have prepared students for this assessment, and we are confident that the outcomes will be positive. Testing Schedule: Tuesday, April 9 5th Gr. Math and 4th gr. Writing Wedneday, April 10 5th Gr. Reading Thursday, April 11, Make ups Friday, April 12, Make-ups
Fifth grade parents: Fifth grade is a Student Success Initiative (SSI) year. Students have 3 opportunities to pass the STAAR reading and writing assessment in order to be promoted to 6th grade.
