The Fort Worth ISD Bookmobile is on the road to tell parents about full-day Pre-K and Kindergarten. The next stop is Wednesday, March 10 at the District’s Family Action Center, located at Sunrise-McMillan Elementary School, 3402 Stalcup.
And, the first two large-scale events –at The Potter’s House of Fort Worth and LVT Rise-- attracted hundreds of families as the District visited with parents, gave away bags of resources, and shared information about Pre-K and Kindergarten registration beginning April 1. (View photos of previous events here.)
On Wednesday – the third of many such “pop-up” events -- families will receive free copies of “Countdown to Kindergarten,” a resource booklet that provides information about a child’s important milestones in social skills, emotional development, language acquisition, and motor skill development; books for toddlers and early readers; and resources from MHMR, Help Me Grow North Texas and Read Fort Worth.
“Our Districtwide goal is to meet parents where they are and show them all Fort Worth ISD has to offer,” said Jennifer Perez, Director of Family Communications.
Pre-K and Kindergarten in the Fort Worth ISD provide safe spaces that inspire discovery, learning, and there’s enough room for every child.
And, Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers in Fort Worth ISD have earned their state certification. Pre-K teachers receive an extra 30 hours of training each year and Kindergarten teachers receive an added 16 hours. This additional training equips teachers with the latest tools to give young students the right balance of structure and play in their education.
Registration starts April 1. To learn more about our early childhood programs, visit www.fwisd.org/prek .
