Fort Worth ISD Introduces 2020-21 Teaching Chairs of Excellence
The Fort Worth ISD, with the generous support of community partners, is once again recognizing outstanding teachers as the District’s Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence.
Modeled after the university-led Chair program, there are 16 categories of distinction. Honorees
receive the title of Chair for Teaching Excellence for one year as well as a $5,000 honorarium.
Sendy Casas has a deep attachment to Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She applied to the Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence award program to showcase what teachers do for students at her school. One day, she was called outside and found a surprise celebration featuring music, signs, and bubbles to let her know she had been named the 2020Lockheed Martin Chair for Teaching Excellence in Elementary Math and Science.
