Gold Seal Expo, Open House Events Set for November
Fort Worth, Texas (October 26, 2018) – Discover the power of choice!
Learn about Fort Worth ISD’s Gold Seal Programs and Schools of Choice at expo and open house events this November.
Students and families have opportunities to explore pathways to colleges and careers at Choices Expo, school and neighborhood open house events. More than 12,600 postcards were mailed to families with fifth- and eighth-grade children this week with information about upcoming key Gold Seal dates.
Students can begin submitting online applications for FWISD’s Gold Seal Programs and Schools of Choice, Friday November 9. Because all applications are now submitted online, it’s extremely important that parents have an active email address prior to starting the application process. District employees submitting applications for their own children may use their active directory login.
Online Gold Seal applications are due no later than 5 p.m. Friday, December 7.
Fifth and eighth-grade presentations are currently underway at schools across the District where students are viewing video overviews of the 2019-2020 Gold Seal Programs and Schools of Choice catalog in campus assemblies, receiving information about important upcoming Gold Seal events and having opportunities to get questions answered about the program offerings. Mini expos for eighth-graders also allow them to meet with coordinators about the various college and career pathways and the schools offering the programs. The presentations continue through Friday, November 2.
Join the District for Choices Expo, November 9 and 10 at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, 5201 C.A. Roberson Blvd., Fort Worth. This one-stop shop event allows families to learn about offerings that can lead to students earning their high school diploma, associate degree or licensure and certifications simultaneously. Computers and on-site assistance for completing the Gold Seal application is available to families at Choices Expo.
Choices Expo is slated for:
- 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 9
- 9 a.m.- noon Saturday, November 10
“It’s your opportunity to see programs close up, ask questions and get assistance in filling out the Gold Seal application,” said Superintendent Kent Scribner. “I look forward to seeing you at the Expo!”
FWISD will host Gold Seal neighborhood, elementary and middle school open houses November 12-15. On-site assistance for submitting online applications is available at these events.
“If a parent can’t make it to the Expo, then they’ll be able to get information at the open house events,” said Karen Ponder, coordinator for FWISD programs of choice.
After the Thanksgiving Break, Gold Seal representatives will host Application Help Date events, November 28, December 3-7 at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center where families can complete online Gold Seal applications and ask questions about the process.
Application Help Date Events are slated for:
- 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28
- 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. December 3-4
- 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. December 5-7
