FWISD Slates Financial Aid Sessions for February 12, 23
The Fort Worth Independent School District will sponsor two District-wide Spring semester financial aid sessions to assist college-bound seniors and their families with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) application.
The FAFSA/TASFA allows students access to four types of financial aid:
- Scholarships:Awards that students MUST APPLY FOR that are based on need, merit, or achievement that DO NOT HAVE TO BE REPAID.
- Grants: Awards that students QUALIFY for versus applying for that are mostly awarded on the basis of need and DO NOT HAVE TO BE REPAID.
- Work Study:On and sometimes off-campus jobs for students who demonstrate financial need.
- Loans:Money that is BORROWED and MUST BE REPAID WITH INTEREST.
The sessions, available in both English and Spanish, will be held at the District’s Professional Development Center located at 3150 McCart Ave. Dates and times are listed below:
Tuesday, February 12 | 6– 8 p.m.
Saturday, February 23 | 9a.m. – Noon
Find and bring these items to help complete your FAFSA/TASFA forms!
- Your Federal Student Aid (FSA) PIN
- Your Social Security number
- Your driver’s license number
- Your (2017-2018) tax records
- Records of your untaxed income (if applicable)
- Records of all your savings and checking account balances (if applicable)
- List of the school(s) you are interested in attending
Pre-registration is not required for any of these sessions. Students and their parents are welcome to attend both events if additional support is needed.
