FWISD Brings Home Gold in Four State Track Races, Earns Medals in Several More

Congratulations to Fort Worth ISD student-athletes who had remarkable performances at the UIL State Track & Field competitions! Fort Worth ISD sent students in both the 4A and 5A divisions.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis senior Angel Sanchez took home the gold medal in the 4A boys’ 3200m race with a time of 9:14.44 and in the 1600m run with a record-setting time of 4:13.08. His performance in the 1600m set a new state record, earning him the 4A Boys Athlete of the Meet award!

Dunbar junior Kalani Lawson also brought home gold in the 4A girls’ 100m hurdle with a time of 13.89. She set a new 4A state record with her impressive time!

In the boys 5A meet, O.D. Wyatt senior Malik Franklin won the 400m dash with a time of 47.23!

Other students who medaled include:

  • Young Women’s Leadership Academy senior Peggy Carr, who placed eighth in the 4A girls’ discus with a distance of 106-10.

  • Dunbar sophomores Avianna House, Amaya Albert, Trinity Braziel Davis, and junior Kalani Lawson placed third in the 4A girls 4x100m relay with a time of 47.50.

  • Western Hills senior Trishtan Willis placed ninth in the 4A 110m hurdles with a time of 15.11.

  • Dunbar sophomore Trinity Braziel Davis also placed eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.33.

  • Arlington Heights senior Alleah Krote placed second in the 5A triple jump with a distance of 40-4.5 and fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.24.

  • O.D. Wyatt freshman Ericka Wyatt, seniors Jayla Ford and Javia Lane, and junior Nia Trammell brought home silver in the 5A girls 4x100m relay with a time of 46.37.

  • O.D. Wyatt junior Nia Trammell placed sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 55.98.

  • O.D. Wyatt senior Jayla Ford placed 5th in the 5A girls 200m dash with a time of 24.43.

Fort Worth ISD celebrates these student-athletes and their coaches for a successful season that culminated triumphantly!
