PARENTS ARE ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR STUDENT ATTENDANCE
AVOID LEGAL/FINANCIAL CONSEQUENCES
Every absence affects your ability to maintain credit. BOTH excused and unexcused absences count toward losing credit.
FALL SEMESTER: lose credit on the 9th absence.
SPRING SEMESTER: lose credit on the 9th absence.
WHY GO TO CLASS IF YOU DON'T NEED IT OR ARE FAILING?
BECAUSE it keeps you from TRUANCY court!!
You must also turn in parent notes and doctors notes to keep you out of court.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
You MUST be in class 90% of the time to be marked present. You will be absent after 10 minutes tardy.
Doctors' notes: if a student has a doctor's appointment and comes to school at any time during the day and attend classes, the absence will not count against credit if the student provides a doctor's note. If the student is out all day for medical reasons and provides a doctor's note (or parent's), the absence will affect course credit.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ABSENCES FOR CREDIT AND ABSENCES FOR TRUANCY:
Credit: the 90% rule. Counts BOTH excused and unexcused absenses.
Truancy: taken to court for not going to class. Counts ONLY unexcused absenses.
