Fort Worth ISD Winter Weather Plans for Monday and Tuesday
Monday is a Student Holiday with Most Employees Working Remotely; On Tuesday the FWISD will go with all virtual instruction
(Sunday, February 14, 2021) -- The Fort Worth ISD is continuing to carefully monitor the progress of the severe winter storm that is bearing down on North Texas and consider its impact on students, families, and employees.
Monday, February 15, is a student holiday with most employees working remotely.
Additionally, the District has decided to go with all virtual instruction on Tuesday, February 16, and all teachers and exempt staff will work remotely, as well.
“By sharing this information now, we hope to give our entire school community more time to prepare for what will definitely be a challenging week for us all,” said Superintendent Kent P. Scribner.
Monday
As a reminder, almost all Fort Worth ISD students have the day off Monday in honor of Presidents Day
Teachers and exempt (salaried) employees will work remotely.
Non-exempt (hourly) employees scheduled to work will not report to work either physically or remotely.
Students attending Marine Creek ECHS, TCC-South ECHS, and TABS will engage in synchronous, virtual instruction on Monday.
All Flex professional learning offerings scheduled for Monday will be conducted virtually.
Tuesday
The District will have virtual (synchronous) instruction only on Tuesday, February 16.
All teachers and exempt employees will work from home.
Hourly employees will not report to work, either physically or remotely.
Substitute employees will receive instructions from the District’s Substitute Office. The phone number for the FWISD Substitute Office is 817-814-2780.
Wednesday and beyond
The Fort Worth ISD will be in direct contact with the National Weather Service for frequent, regular updates. The District will make –and announce-- decisions in a timely manner regarding Wednesday, February 17 and the rest of the week.
“We realize that what is predicted to be a historic storm, with temperatures not seen in many years, will be a demanding event for many,” said Dr. Scribner. “We commit to keeping everyone informed and working together with you all to provide support.”
