Tarrant County Back To School Roundup Registration Underway
Plenty of organizations are looking to equip local schoolchildren with a successful start to the 2021-2022 academic year.
Returning for its 17th year is the Tarrant County Back To School Roundup. Pre-registration is officially underway for the event slated for Friday, August 6 at the Tarrant County College South Campus, 5301 Campus Drive.
Families are encouraged to pre-register online, guaranteeing school-age children in Tarrant County public schools between ages 3-18 free school supplies and entry into the event. The Roundup is a one-stop event offering approximately 10,000 underserved Tarrant County school-aged children with free school supplies, backpacks, haircuts, health, dental and vision screenings, immunizations, health and social resources, activities and games.
For FWISD students, the free Tarrant County Back To School Roundup giveaways supplement school supplies from the District. Recently, the District announced that it’s picking up the tab for student school supplies.
With the use of about $4.5 million in federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) dollars provided to District, FWISD is funding classroom supplies for all enrolled elementary school students. Each teacher at the secondary level will receive a $200 supply budget to support instruction.
The Tarrant County Back To School Roundup is a collaborative effort of the county, 20 area Tarrant County school districts, the City of Fort Worth public health department, state agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporations and volunteers.
To qualify for free supplies, families must produce the following:
- Valid photo identification
- Proof of Tarrant County residency
- Proof of income (must meet 2021 federal income poverty guidelines)
