Saturday Learning Quest Registration Open Through Friday
There’s still time for Fort Worth ISD families to participate in the District’s Saturday Learning Quest. Registration remains open through Friday, September 3.
Saturday Learning Quest (SLQ) is a targeted learning opportunity for academic growth and social emotional support available to first, second and third-grade students.
Over 14 Saturdays throughout the 2021-22 school year, students will take part in a day of rigorous, active instruction in literacy and math designed around engaging themes. Young learners will also enjoy enrichment opportunities such as classes in art and music, physical activities, labs and visits to the District’s mobile STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) units. Participating students are eligible for incentive prizes for attending, as well as weekly giveaways of books and other academic materials.
While children are involved with their activities, Saturday Learning Quest will also offer family support. There will be Adult Education classes, Parent University, as well as prizes for parent engagement.
As of today, more than 1,200 students are registered, and over 700 District principals and teachers applied to work the Saturday Learning Quest events by the application deadline.
On Wednesday, September 1, the District hosted a special Saturday Learning Quest webinar for parents. Dr. Marcey Sorenson, Fort Worth ISD’s Chief of Academics and Shannon Hernandez, the District’s Executive Director of Mathematics answered questions in the hourlong informational session, which was moderated by Jennifer Perez, Director of Family and Community Outreach and Marketing. A recording of the session is available here.
