Daggett MS Debuts Healthy Food Pantry
Daggett Middle School cut the ribbon on a healthy food pantry recently, offering families fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutritious options.
This unique school pantry, one of the first of its kind in the Fort Worth ISD, is made possible through a partnership between Blue Zones Project- Fort Worth, Fidelity Investments and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. TAFB will stock the area with healthy food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, and will also lead nutrition lessons for parents at the campus.
Families will have opportunities to shop the pantry on designated days after school.
The ribbon cutting event, hosted Tuesday, November 19, was attended by multiple people including Superintendent Kent P. Scribner and Bo Soderbergh, TAFB executive director, who both gave remarks.
The new pantry addresses food access for Daggett Middle School families who face food insecurity and affordability issues, according to pantry partners.
