FWISD BOARD ELECTS NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS
The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education elected District 2 Representative Tobi Jackson as president during the June 22, 2021 meeting. District 3 Representative Quinton “Q” Phillips was elected as 1st Vice President,Daphne Brookins from District 4 was elected 2nd Vice President and CJ Evans, the District 5 representative was elected as Board Secretary.
Tobi Jackson - is a lifelong resident of East Fort Worth who attended Eastern Hills Elementary, Meadowbrook Middle School, and proudly graduated in 1978 from Eastern Hills High School. This FWISD education prepared her for a successful transition into college, where she received a B.A. from The University of Texas at Arlington and an M.S. from the University of North Texas. She began her Board service in 2010.
Quinton ‘Q’ Phillips - is a native of Fort Worth born and raised on the eastside of the city in the Historic Stop Six Community. A graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Quinton has spent over a decade helping to facilitate a cultural diversity and leadership camp for high school students and has now served the Multicultural Alliance for two decades. Quinton was a Juvenile Probation Officer for nearly a decade, and he remained at the forefront of cultural competency for Tarrant County and the Mental Health Connection.
Daphne Brookins - is currently serving her first full term. She was first elected to the Board in 2019 to fill the unexpired term of long-time Board member Dr. T.A. Sims. A former Forest Hill Mayor Pro Tem and Councilwoman. She is a young adult motivational speaker and writer. She serves on multiple local and state boards including the One Star Foundation, which she was appointed to by Gov. Greg Abbott. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University.
CJ Evans - was first elected to the Board in 2019.graduated from Baylor University in 1996 and from Regent University School of Law in 2001. She has been practicing law in Texas for over 17 years and is also licensed in Arkansas. CJ is a member of the Texas Pro Bono College and facilitates a monthly legal clinic at The Women’s Center of Tarrant County. From 2009-2013 she sat on the board of Explore! The Children's Museum, a STEM-focused mobile children's museum that brings fun and unique science experiences to Title 1 schools.
