Summary: On Friday, August 21, the Fort Worth ISD will kick-off the new school year with Convocation 2015. The theme of the giant pep-rally is “Building Relationships’, not only among colleagues and students we serve, but also within the community.

This event will mark the first time in three years that educators have gathered en masse to bolster each other at the start of school. Over the last several years the District has conducted a virtual convocation that allowed teachers to remain at their campuses for a few more hours of preparation time.

This year’s keynote speaker is Patrick Briggs, Texas State Director for AVID.  Mr. Briggs’ passion lies in helping all learners achieve at high levels so all students are college and career ready upon completion of high school.

In addition to the keynote speaker, Interim Superintendent Dr. Patricia Linares will offer her encouragement to the District’s educators as they open the new academic year. Entertainment will include cheer squads, drum lines, and teacher and student choral performances.

Convocation 2015 will follow a similar format as in years past, however this year’s sessions have been broken up by pyramids.

The morning session will include:

  • Arlington Heights, Dunbar, North Side, Polytechnic, South Hills, Southwest and Alternative Schools.

The afternoon session will include:

  • Carter-Riverside, Diamond Hill-Jarvis, Eastern Hills, Paschal, Western Hills, and O.D. Wyatt.

Each pyramid will be assigned a specific seating area so check with your principal. Central Administration staff will be assigned by department supervisors.

All staff members are encouraged to show off school/pyramid pride by making signs, wearing matching t-shirts or anything that shows school spirit.

Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center is located at 5101 C.A. Roberson in Fort Worth.
