Happy Monday, FWISD!

I joined the Fort Worth ISD family seven months ago! I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve this community, and I know the best is yet to come! I feel so blessed to work with many amazing people who work hard and care deeply. I have sat in several collaborative team meetings with teachers, I see the commitment and dedication that exists, and I know we will only get better for the students and families we serve. As we enter the season of testing and graduation, every intentional interaction and every purposeful plan will ultimately impact student outcomes. Let’s make the next few months count! Together, we will make a difference.

In my role as associate superintendent for Learning & Leading Service Network 4, I serve the Polytechnic, South Hills, and Eastern Hills pyramids. I also serve as the cabinet lead for our alternative campuses, and I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM & VPA.

The following programs are also in Network 4:

  • Elementary and Secondary Counseling Services
  • Pregnancy Services
  • Crisis Response
  • Discipline
  • Restorative & Response Setting
  • Special Education
  • Dyslexia
  • Psychological Services
  • MTSS
  • 504
  • Gifted and Talented
  • Homeless
  • Migrant
  • Wraparound Services

These teams are comprised of the most dedicated individuals who have a laser focus on the school experience. Our School Performance Framework was designed to elevate both educational excellence and the school experience. We are fortunate to have a Board of Trustees and a superintendent who allocate resources to ensure we make both the priorities they need to be.

Mondays are reserved for executive leadership meetings with Learning & Leading executive directors, senior staff and superintendent’s cabinet. This Monday is unique because it coincides with the largest conference for Texas Administrators. In preparation for 2024-25 school year budget development, I will meet with staff to review plans, as well as join a conversation about planning for summer learning. Planning for summer starts early!

My morning will consist of site visits to schools in Network 4. It is always great to see the great work happening with our students and I look forward to these visits. The meetings are critical to calibrate, reset, refocus, and identify opportunities for support. I will be attending the school board meeting in the evening.

I will start the day at a coaching round at one of our Network 4 sites. I will also be working with the other associates to review the progress of students since the middle of year assessment window closes Tuesday, January 30. Later in the afternoon, I have a one-on-one meeting scheduled with the executive director of Specialized Learning. The day will close with a standing legal review meeting for Special Education.

This morning is reserved for associate superintendents to address tactical issues as well as build coherence and strategy as we work to impact learning and leading systems in the district. I have another site visit scheduled on this day and I will be meeting with our elementary executive directors regarding staffing at their elementary campuses for the 2024-25 school year. The day will end with a College, Career, Military Readiness taskforce meeting.

I have one-on-one meetings with the rest of our executive directors scheduled throughout the day. I am also attending a standing staffing meeting in preparation for the 2024-25 school year. Finally, I have my one-on-one meeting with Superintendent Dr. Angélica Ramsey.
